More than 3.3 million cars have crossed the Crimean Bridge since its opening, the Crimean Bridge information center reported on Monday.
“In November 2018, 243,385 vehicles have passed through the Crimean Bridge in both directions; almost one-fourth of them are trucks. In total, more than 3.3 million drivers have used the route through the Kerch Strait since its opening,” the report says.
According to the report, daily traffic density was about 8,100 vehicles in November. The general traffic to Taman and to Crimea is almost equal. The number of trucks passing to Crimea prevails.
The highway part of the bridge which linked the Crimean Peninsula to other Russian regions was opened on May 15 with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s participation; the truck movement was permitted starting from October 1. The next day transport movement started across the bridge. The construction of the railway through the strait continues.
The railway’s opening is scheduled for 2019.
