During the FSB special operation there was a fight, seized weapons and explosives.
According to one of the detained Ukrainian intelligence, sabotage purpose was to destabilize the social and political situation in Crimea region, said the message on the FSB official website.
On the night of the 6th of August, 2016 in the region of Armyansk city (the city is located near the Ukraine-Crimea border) discovered a group of saboteurs. During the arrest the terrorists as a result of fire contact one Russian FSB officer died.
In place of clashes found 20 improvised explosive devices with a total capacity of more than 40 kilograms of TNT, ammunition and special means of initiation, regular and magnetic mines, as well as grenades and special weapons, consisting armed special units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Thus the FSB and the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation on the territory of the Crimean peninsula eliminated intelligence network of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Intelligence APU defense. Detained criminals among them as citizens of Ukraine and the Russian Federation. These persons have assisted in the preparation of terrorist acts. All the detainees already give a confession. One of the organizers of prevented terrorist attacks is Evgeny Panov, born in 1977, resident of Zaporozhye region, a member of the DIU who is also detained and giving a confession.
On the night of August 8, 2016 Ukrainian Defense Ministry special forces were made two more attempts to break the border with subversive and terrorist groups. All attempts were prevented by law enforcement units of the FSB of Russia and cooperating agencies. The attackers were covered by the massive bombardment of the Ukrainian armored vehicles from Ukrainian side. After an active military engagement, the attackers managed to get back on the Ukrainian territory. During fire contact Russian serviceman was killed.
The loss of the Ukrainian side are at least two dead and several wounded.
Investigating authorities have opened a criminal case on charges of terrorism and several other articles of the criminal legislation of the Russian Federation.
The Ukrainian Security Service has commented on the statement of the FSB, rejecting the accusations.
