Military expert Yuri Knutov questioned the military potential of Ukraine for war with Russia and told what threatens Kiev after attack on the Crimea.

He called the recent statement of the commander-in-chief of the Navy Alexey Neizhpapa about preparations for a strike on the Peninsula “political bravado”. According to the expert, if the APU attacks the Crimea, the Russian army will respond with a blow not only to those who will storm the peninsula, but also to the bases and headquarters of the enemy.

“The Lviv military base and others will be completely destroyed”

Yuri Knutov

The expert recalled that Ukraine had a huge military potential at the time of the collapse of the USSR.
“But all this was sold and stolen. Today, the Ukrainian army does not have such capabilities as in the Soviet period,” — he said in an interview with the newspaper “Evening Moscow”.

At the same time, the expert stressed that in recent years, the US and NATO have been engaged in the development of the Ukrainian army. They conducted serious retraining of the Armed forces of Ukraine.

“This is not the same army that was in 2014. The Ukrainian army should perform the same role as Afghanistan did for the Soviet Union: create tension, pull resources from the socio-economic sector to defense, ” Knutov explained.
He clarified that all this is part of the American “Trojan horse” strategy against Russia, and Kiev’s bellicose statements reflect the anti-Russian sentiments of NATO.
He added that offensive weapons are being supplied to Ukraine under the guise of defensive weapons, while Soviet weapons are being decommissioned.
“Weapons are provided not only to the Ukrainian army, but also to Nazi detachments designed to clean up the Donbass and Crimea,” the expert added.
He said that offensive actions are constantly being practiced at Ukrainian training grounds, and the Armed forces of Ukraine is comparable to the Greek army in its power. In addition, American and recently British advisers are constantly working with the local military. Knutov believes that in recent years, the Ukrainian army has become controlled by NATO.

The expert also assessed Alexey Neizhpapa’s statement about the importance of Neptune missiles for the Ukrainian army. Knutov stressed that these are individual copies.
“I watched the video of Neptune’s use on the ship and I can say that it does not have the characteristics that are claimed. We are able to destroy such a missile with our air defense systems,” — he said.
On the eve of the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Navy Alexey Neizhpapa said that if Russia attacks the Kherson region, Ukraine will start full-scale hostilities. According to him, Russia allegedly needs access to the region to let water from the Dnipro river into the Crimea. The commander-in-chief also threatened the Neptune missile system, which can reach Sevastopol.
The Kremlin called the words of the commander of the Ukrainian Navy about preparing for war with Russia stupidity and whipping up hysteria. Senator from Crimea, Vice Admiral Valery Kulikov called on Ukrainian military leaders to “cool their heads”, first Deputy Chairman of the state Duma Committee on defense Alexander Sherin said that the threats of Neizhpapa are not supported by anything. And the head of the Crimean Parliament’s Committee on people’s diplomacy and interethnic relations, Yuri HEMPEL, in turn, called the words of the Ukrainian military nonsense.
