The Federal Security Service (FSB) detained in five regions of Russia members of a cell of the terrorist organization Islamic State (IS), banned in Russia, who were financing its activities.
Criminal cases have been initiated against six Russians for aiding terrorist activities (part 1 of article 205.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
“The FSB, together with the Investigative Committee, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Rosfinmonitoring and Rosgvardia, carried out an operation to suppress the criminal activities of a conspiratorial cell operating in Moscow, the Moscow region, the Republic of Dagestan, Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, which collected and transferred funds for needs the international terrorist organization “Islamic State” banned in Russia, ” the FSB public relations center told TASS.
On August 24, the FSB announced the arrest in Tatarstan of an IS member who was involved in financing terrorists, as well as recruiting and transporting Russians and citizens of other CIS countries to Syria.
