After vaccination against coronavirus, the level of antibodies is several times higher than that of those who have had COVID-19, Svetlana Smetanina, the head physician of the Infectious Clinical Hospital No. 1, chief freelance specialist in infectious diseases, told RIA Novosti reporter.
She said that she herself was vaccinated against the coronavirus, deciding on this “without much hesitation.”
“We, doctors, face patients every day, we see how aggressive this virus can behave and what serious complications this disease gives, especially among risk groups. I underwent vaccination very well, there was no rise in temperature, there was only slight discomfort in the area injection, which lasted several hours. And now I have a high level of antibodies – 1.6 thousand, several times higher than that of those who had been ill, “- said Smetanina.
The doctor stressed that the effects of vaccination can be judged by analogy with the flu.
“The immune response formed after vaccination will protect a person from disease and complications, and the wider the coverage of vaccination, the more massive the immune layer in the population will become, which will have a beneficial effect not only on the vaccinated, but also on people for whom vaccination is contraindicated,” Smetanina said …
According to her, the most effective fight against airborne respiratory viral infections is possible only with the help of vaccination.
“The immunity formed after vaccination at various levels does not allow the virus to launch a cascade of pathological reactions leading to the development of the disease. Russia has accumulated a huge positive experience in the creation of vaccines, immunobiological drugs – we have been using them for decades and really see their effectiveness: extremely indicative in this regard is influenza vaccination – those who have been vaccinated do not get sick, or their disease is mild, “Smetanina said.
