At a meeting with nuclear industry workers, Vladimir Putin commented on the termination of composite materials supplies for the Russian MC-21 aircraft.
“You are engaged in work in the sphere of the defense complex. But our new medium-range aircraft MC-21 has nothing to do with the defense complex. For reasons of unfair competition, our partners stopped supplying us with the corresponding composite materials for the wing. Well, what is it. rudeness. On the world market. In violation of all generally recognized principles and rules,” said Vladimir Putin.
The President stressed that, thanks to those present, Russia will still finish work on this plane, and everyone knows about it.
“But just so later, so that our aircraft builders come out later with this product. And by that time they are planning to occupy these niches and markets,” the head of state added.
MC-21-300 is a new generation short- and medium-haul passenger aircraft with a capacity of 150 to 211 passengers. The first flight was made on May 28, 2017.
Last week, the Federal Air Transport Agency announced that it had registered the application of PJSC Irkut Corporation for certification of MC-21 using Russian composites.
It is specified that the developer by the end of 2021 plans to replace the “sanctioned” wing materials, empennage elements and center section.
