The fourth missile ship of the project 21631 (Buyan-M) “Grayvoron” was introduced to the Black Sea Fleet, the ceremony of raising the flag on the ship took place on Saturday in Sevastopol, RIA Novosti reports.
The flag raising ceremony on the new ship took place at the Mine Wall in Sevastopol. The ship’s crew was congratulated by the Chief of the Main Staff of the Russian Navy, First Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Alexander Vitko.
“Grayvoron” is the ninth ship of the modernized “Buyan-M” series and the fourth in the Black Sea Fleet. At present, there are three Project 21631 RTOs serving on the Black Sea Fleet: Vyshny Volochek, Orekhovo-Zuevo and Ingushetia.
The ships of this project have an increased displacement and are equipped with the latest high-precision long-range missile weapons – the Kalibr-NK universal missile system designed to destroy sea and coastal targets. The purpose of the Buyan-M ships is to guard and defend the economic zone of the state.
“Over the past year, we have already received the third modern ship. Today it is a combat unit, a carrier of high-precision weapons, the grouping of these ships has been increased, the power of the Black Sea Fleet has increased, so we will carry out all the tasks assigned to the Black Sea Fleet with higher responsibility,” the commander told reporters Black Sea Fleet Vice Admiral Igor Osipov.
