The riots in the Capitol cannot be justified, it is a tragedy, but to a certain extent it is also a payback for the fact that the United States supported “color revolutions” in other countries, said the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev.

“We condemn such actions, everyone has spoken about it, including the president, this cannot be justified in any way. But on the other hand, we understand very well that this is to some extent a payback for the fact that the Americans traditionally supported various actions, the so-called” color revolutions “which led to an illegitimate, illegal change of power in other countries, considered it absolutely normal if it meets American interests.”

At the same time, the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council drew attention to the fact that when similar events took place inside the United States, “this, naturally, was qualified as a state crime,” hundreds of criminal cases were initiated, and a huge number of people were arrested.

Nevertheless, Medvedev stressed that everything that happened in early January in the United States is a tragedy, because people died in these events, and in this case there can be no room for any gloating.

“Here, of course, there can be no reason for schadenfreude. This simply means that outside the borders, outside of your country, you need to pursue an honest course and not try to change the government in illegitimate ways, arrange all sorts of Maidans, then clap that an illegal change has taken place authorities, “- said the politician.

“This undoubtedly spoils the bright face of American democracy, I think everyone understands this,” he concluded.
On January 6, a joint meeting of the houses of the US Congress to approve the results of the November presidential elections was interrupted by riots, during which supporters of Donald Trump broke into the complex of government buildings on the Capitol.

As a result of the attempted storming of the congress, four protesters and one policeman were killed. More than 160 cases have been opened over the riots.

However, late in the evening, lawmakers officially approved the election of Biden as the 46th president of the United States, the Democrat received more than 270 electoral votes approved by Congress.
