Vice-admiral, former chief of staff of the Black Sea Fleet Pyotr Svyatashov, in a conversation with the NSN, called for a decisive response to the actions of the American Navy in the Black Sea.
The American destroyer Donald Cook entered the Black Sea on January 23, and then was joined by another ship, the Porter. In NATO, their appearance was called a response to Russia’s “military build-up”.
“Is he going to walk unceremoniously? We need to end it. We need to show us not all teeth at once, but at least some. Well, how much can you do whatever you want? <…> Guys, well, it’s time for you, probably, to get it, How long can you test Russian sailors for strength? ” – said Svyatashov.
He clarified that “there is no need to unleash a war,” but Russia has adequate ways to respond to the Americans.
“It’s time to say: have a conscience. What are we afraid of? There are methods that should prevent a threat in our waters: electronic warfare and much more,” the vice admiral explained.
In recent years, Russia has repeatedly expressed concern about the unprecedented NATO activity along its western borders. The alliance calls this “containing Russian aggression” and continues to build up its forces. Moscow emphasized that Russia poses no threat to anyone, but will not disregard actions potentially dangerous to its interests.
