Terrorists controlled by the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham organization (one of the names of the Jabhat al-Nusra organization banned in Russia) train militants for crimes at mass rallies in various Russian cities, TASS and RIA Novosti report citing sources in law enforcement agencies.
So far, there have been no official warnings about the planned terrorist attacks in Russia.
“Information has been received that the leaders of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham terrorist alliance directed their supporters to commit crimes in various cities of Russia in the places of mass street actions,” the source said.
“To this end, the leaders of the terrorist groups Jaysh Muhajirin wal Ansar, Jamaat Tawhid wal Jihad, Ajand al-Kavkaz and other structurally located in Hayat Tahrir al-Sham are training the most trusted and experienced militants from among the recruits who have of Russian origin or recruited in countries bordering on Russia,” the source added.
This message came against the background of protest activity in Russia. This year, supporters of opposition leader Alexei Navalny have already held three protests – on January 23 and 31, as well as on the day of his trial on February 2. The protesters demand the release of the oppositionist, whom the court replaced the suspended sentence in the Yves Rocher case with a real one. On February 14, supporters of Mr. Navalny announced a political flash mob: go out into the courtyard in the evening, light a flashlight on your phone, and then post the pictures on social networks. The Prosecutor General’s Office, the TFR and the Ministry of Internal Affairs warned of responsibility for unauthorized actions.
