Russia is ready to break off relations with Brussels if there are sanctions on its part that create risks for sensitive sectors of the economy, said Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
“We proceed from the fact that we are ready. In case we see again (as we have already felt more than once) that sanctions are imposed in some areas that create risks for our economy, including in the most sensitive areas. We do not want to isolate ourselves from world life, but we must be ready for this. If you want peace, get ready for war,” Lavrov said, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the broadcast of the YouTube channel Soloviev Live.
Earlier, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Moscow is following the statements in Europe about new anti-Russian sanctions.
Recall that the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, said that he intends to use his right and personally propose new sanctions against Russia to the leaders of the EU countries.
Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia did not initiate a cooling of relations with the European Union, Moscow is determined to interact with Brussels in certain areas, if the agenda is not “sacrificed” to geopolitical interests.
