The organizers will be detained and taken to the territorial offices for the preparation of administrative materials.
Police officers came to the forum “Municipal Russia” in Moscow, which is held by an organization recognized as undesirable in the country, REN TV reports.
Law enforcers explained to the forum participants the reason for the detention.
“Citizens gathered, your event is over. On the fact of carrying out the activities of an international or foreign non-governmental organization, whose activities are undesirable on the territory of the Russian Federation,” the police said
It is known that the event was held by the United Democrats, a project of the undesirable organization Open Russia.
Open Russia was recognized by the General Prosecutor’s Office as an undesirable organization in Russia back in 2017. Law enforcement officials have established that the organization’s activities are aimed at shaping protest moods in the country with the aim of destabilizing the internal political situation in order to violate the constitutional order in the state. In addition, the organization did not comply with the requirement of Russian legislation and did not declare foreign funding sources.
According to information confirmed by numerous public sources, the Open Russia movement is funded by a fugitive oligarch convicted in the Yukos oil company Mikhail Khodorkovsky. The latter, after being pardoned by President Putin in December 2013, left for Switzerland. He currently resides in London and is involved in organizing opposition movements of a non-systemic nature. It is suspected by the Russian authorities of active cooperation with the UK intelligence.
