The governor of the Penza region, Ivan Belozertsev, was detained by operatives of the Main Directorate of Economic Security and Anti-Corruption of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on suspicion of malfeasance, namely, taking a bribe.
This was reported to TASS by a law enforcement source.
“Yes, he was detained on suspicion of accepting a bribe,” the agency’s source said.
Russian Interior Ministry officers are conducting investigative actions with the Governor of the Penza Region, Ivan Belozertsev.
“The governor is being questioned as part of investigative actions. Employees of the Main Directorate for Economic Security and Anti-Corruption of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are conducting searches of a number of officials of the Penza region,” the source said.
Within the framework of the same case, one of the members of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, businessman Boris Shpigel, was detained. He is charged with giving a bribe.
Currently, the police are conducting searches in the offices and houses of a number of officials of the Penza region.
