Adviser to the Minister of Defense of Russia Andrei Ilnitsky in an interview with the magazine “Arsenal of the Fatherland” said that the West, led by the United States, unleashed a “mental” war against Russia, the consequences of which will manifest themselves at least in a generation.
According to Ilnitsky, Western countries avoid direct military confrontation with Russia due to its nuclear arsenal and modern army. He noted that the likelihood of a direct military clash is excluded for the next ten years.
The minister’s adviser said that in this regard, the West, led by the United States, unleashed an information-hybrid war against Russia.
He noted that “all this is leading to the emergence of a new type of war.” Ilnitsky said that the purpose of the new war is “the destruction of self-consciousness, change the mental – civilizational – basis of the enemy’s society.”
“I would call this type of war mental,” RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
According to him, the consequences of such a “mental war” manifest themselves at least in a generation.
Ilnitsky also believes that the measures to counter the “mental war” are the sovereignization of the Internet, training of information countermeasures for the military and civilian spheres, the reboot of youth policy, and the resumption of a broad dialogue with the conservative majority.
Earlier, the Kremlin assessed predictions about the possibility of a new Cold War between Russia and the United States.
