Blogger Alexei Navalny, who is in a penal colony, is on a hunger strike.
He told about this on his Instagram page on March 31.
According to him, he repeatedly asked to allow medical workers to see him in order to understand the cause of leg pain. However, doctors are not allowed to visit the prisoner.
On February 25, the blogger was transported from the Moscow SIZO-1 “Matrosskaya Tishina” to a correctional colony in the Vladimir region. On March 30, Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron, clarified the situation around the blogger.
On February 2, the Simonovsky Court of Moscow ruled to cancel Navalny’s suspended sentence in the Yves Rocher case and replace him with 3.5 years in a general regime colony. The court made the decision in connection with numerous violations of the probationary period by the blogger. The judge also ruled that the convict should be credited with a year spent under house arrest.
Thus, Navalny will spend about 2 years and 8 months in the colony.
