Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called the United States and its European allies unreliable partners, and Washington’s policy toward Moscow was a dead end.
“This line (sanctions. – RDN editor) is causing more and more criticism in the United States, even such, in general, a pro-Washington structure like the Atlantic Council* is already publishing materials that criticize the absolutely stalemate of the United States towards Russia, maybe even stupid, which does not bring any result in terms of the goals that were announced when the sanctions were introduced,” Lavrov said.
He noted that all these actions convince Russia of only one thing: to rely on itself.
“Neither the United States nor its European allies are reliable partners,” Lavrov stressed.
Earlier, Vladimir Gutenev, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy and Industry, Innovative Development and Entrepreneurship, commented in an interview with RT on media reports that the US Department of Justice had prepared two packages of sanctions against the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
* “Atlantic Council” (Atlantic Council of the United States) – an organization whose activities are recognized as undesirable on the territory of the Russian Federation by the decision of the General Prosecutor’s Office of 25.07.2019.
