Russian peacekeepers are demining the Lachin corridor connecting Armenia and Karabakh, said Deputy Commander of the Peacekeeping Contingent of the RF Armed Forces Alexey Polyukhovich.
As the military said in a video distributed by the Russian Ministry of Defense, the bodies of the dead are now being exchanged and the road is being cleared of explosive devices and unexploded ordnance. “The road is preparing for the return of refugees who wish to return back to Stepanakert,” Polyukhovich said.
He added that the military is ready to ensure the safety of the convoys returning to Karabakh.
The message from the RF Ministry of Defense says that Russian peacekeepers are engaged in engineering reconnaissance and mine clearance of roads throughout Nagorno-Karabakh. In addition, they will also clear broken vehicles and remove them from public roads.
Traffic has been restored in Stepanakert, as well as electricity and water supply to social facilities and residential buildings, the department noted.
