Vaccination against coronavirus with the Russian Sputnik V vaccine will begin in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic on Monday, said Acting Minister of Health of the DPR Alexander Oprishchenko.
Earlier, the head of the DPR reported that the first several thousand doses of the coronavirus vaccine were delivered to the DPR.
“Today the vaccine was distributed, and today we will deliver it to the vaccine rooms. There are 38 of them in the republic in different cities. But, given that the batch is a trial, we decided to distribute it to ten vaccination rooms in the city of Donetsk. Tomorrow from 15:00 (coincides from Moscow time) the vaccination campaign begins, “Oprishchenko noted.
In August, the Ministry of Health of Russia registered the world’s first vaccine for the prevention of COVID-19, developed by the Gamaleya Research Center for Electrochemistry. It was named Sputnik V. The vaccine is based on a well-studied and validated human adenoviral vector platform, the important benefits of which are safety, efficacy and no long-term adverse effects.
