The G7 countries will consider creating a rapid response mechanism to counter Russian propaganda and disinformation. This was stated by British Foreign Minister Dominic Raab.
According to Raab, the initiative to create such a “mechanism” will be made by the UK, which this year is chairing the G7.
“When we see lies, propaganda or fake news, we must not respond individually, but collectively, to provide rebuttals and convey the truth to our citizens, as well as to the people of Russia, China and the world,” he told Reuters.
The British Foreign Minister also pointed to the need to break “some of the obstacles” that exist between the G7 and like-minded countries in order to “create a wider network of allies defending democracy and open markets.”
Earlier, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken accused Russia of spreading misinformation about coronavirus vaccines.
The Kremlin emphasized that Moscow is categorically against the politicization of the situation with vaccines.
