The Portuguese authorities have tightened anti-coronavirus restrictions during the New Year holidays.
As reported by the agency EFE, since December 25, all nightclubs and bars will be closed. Entrance to restaurants and casinos will be allowed only with a negative test for COVID-19, this rule applies to absolutely everyone, regardless of whether a person has been vaccinated or not. At the same time on December 24, 25, 30 and 31, as well as on January 1 it is forbidden to drink alcohol in public places, as well as to gather in groups of more than 10 people.
“We are entering a particularly difficult period when people tend to get together,” Prime Minister Antonio Costa explained the steps being taken.
A negative test for the coronavirus will also be required when checking into hotels, visiting tourist sites, weddings, christenings, business events, various shows and sports competitions. In addition, visits to stores will be restricted (after Christmas, many people return gifts they do not like).
