Kazakhstani President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev accepted the resignation of the government, which will continue in office until a new Cabinet is formed.
Alikhan Smailov, who served as first deputy prime minister, will temporarily perform the duties of prime minister of the republic. This is stated in a document posted on the website of the head of state.
The previous government was approved last January. Askar Mamin was reappointed as the head of the Cabinet of Ministers. He had held this position since February 2019.
