French President Emmanuel Macron said that he is ready to run in the presidential elections next spring, but for now he is not going to stand as a candidate. The time is not quite right, the politician explained. “Right now I have to take measures to fight the pandemic,” Macron told Le Parisien newspaper.
The French elections will be held in two stages: April 10 and 24. Candidates for the post of head of state can nominate their candidacy until the beginning of March. “It is very good for the nation that there are women candidates,” Macron shared his thoughts. And he called for the fight against violence against women. “It’s not just a matter for women themselves, but for the whole society,” the politician stressed.
Recall that Marine Le Pen, Valérie Pécresse and Anne Hidalgo have already announced their desire to run for president of France.
