Troops from Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan have joined the peacekeeping contingent sent to Kazakhstan, the CSTO said Thursday.
“In accordance with the decision of the CSTO Collective Security Council adopted on January 6, 2022, Collective Security Treaty Organization collective peacekeeping forces have been sent to the Republic of Kazakhstan for a limited period to stabilize and normalize the situation,” the organization’s secretariat said.
The forces “include units of the armed forces of the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Tajikistan and the Kyrgyz Republic,” the CSTO said.
