The tragic events in Kazakhstan were a consequence of the U.S. flight from Afghanistan. Anatoly Antonov, the ambassador of the Russian Federation to the US, expressed this opinion. According to him, after the American military left Afghanistan, there was a rapid growth of extremist ideas and trends in the region. As a result, Kazakhstan came under attack from radicals professing misanthropic ideology, and there was an attempt to undermine the constitutional order in the country.
“The practice of appeasing bandits who attack law enforcement officers, medical workers, and firemen is unacceptable to us,” the Russian ambassador said, adding that negotiations with terrorists “only encourage them to commit even more serious crimes.
Antonov emphasized that the United States is perfectly aware of this, but the Department of State “does not want to give up double standards. The diplomat pointed out that during the events at the Capitol last year, the U.S. authorities had no doubts about the need to restore order and bring the instigators of the pogrom to justice.
