The meeting of the political councils of the leaders of the Normandy format countries – Germany, Russia, France and Ukraine – has started in the Elysee Palace in Paris. This was reported by the Russian embassy in Paris.
The Russian delegation is headed by Dmitry Kozak, deputy head of the presidential administration.
This will be the first face-to-face meeting after a break of more than a year. Moscow is expected to share with its Quartet colleagues its concerns about the situation on the line of contact in Donbas.
As a reminder, Ukraine and a number of Western countries have recently been increasingly accusing Russia of allegedly preparing an invasion of Ukrainian territory. Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov has repeatedly called such statements empty and groundless escalation of tension.
