Russia and China are superior to the United States in the struggle for dominance in Africa. The journal Foreign Affairs writes about this.
Thus, analysts of the publication noted the growth of economic and military activity of Moscow and Beijing on the African continent: in recent years, Russia has significantly expanded its presence in the region, for example, by signing military agreements with 19 countries.
The experts of the publication also pointed out that the standard US approach to interaction with African countries is the work of American ambassadors in the region. However, diplomatic representatives do not have the required number of employees, as well as sufficient incentives to interact not only at the domestic level, but also at the level of regional organizations to solve global problems.
In particular, this concerns the fight against the insurgency movements of jihadists, which operate throughout the region, and not within the framework of any one African state. Analysts conclude that any US strategy to tackle this problem must be transnational.
In particular, we are talking about activating the international assistance agency USAID to become a preferred partner for African countries. In addition, the new strategy should include the provision of military and non-military assistance, which will be coordinated at the regional level.
Finally, experts talk about the need for regional representatives, whose activities will be controlled by the US President.
