A Russian military adviser in the Central African Republic received a minor bullet wound in the leg, and during his evacuation by helicopter, the latter crashed.
The helicopter pilot suggested that the cause of the helicopter crash was the damage inflicted by terrorists from firearms the day before.
This became known on the air of the Vesti Nedeli program on the Russia 1 TV channel.
“We took off and began to circle sharply. Spun, spun and fell. (…) No harm done. We fell on soft ground,” the wounded military adviser told the correspondent Alexander Rogatkin.
The military officer himself told reporters that he felt fine and considered himself “lucky”.
The squad leader requested an urgent helicopter evacuation. When he landed in the swamp, fuel leaked from his tank. As a result, there was a fire.
The pilot and the wounded instructor were taken with a military convoy to the nearest airfield. It is clarified that the road took five hours, since it was necessary to move on a broken dirt road. From there they will be sent to Moscow.
This officer had previously survived a terrorist attack on a convoy. As part of the group, he repulsed the attacks of the bandits and received a slight tangential wound in the leg in the knee area with two bullets. As comrades of the officer note, these two bullets could completely destroy the knees of the Russian military adviser.
In December, at the request of the CAR authorities, Russia sent 300 military instructors to the country. This decision was approved by the UN Security Council resolution. It was clarified that on the spot they will train the soldiers of the Republic’s National Army (FACA) and will oversee the fight against terrorist groups in the country and forcing the warring tribes to peace. The plot tells about the achievements of the CAR army with the assistance of Russian military specialists.
