UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres condemned the violence against protesters in Myanmar.
“I condemn the use of fatal violence in Myanmar,” Guterres wrote on Twitter.
He noted that shooting to kill, intimidation and harassment of peaceful demonstrators are unacceptable.
The UN Secretary General also called on all parties to respect the election results and return to civilian rule.
Earlier it was reported that the United States imposed sanctions against eight individuals and three legal entities in connection with the situation in Myanmar, where state leaders were detained.
