Foreign Ministers of Iran and China Javad Zarif and Wang Yi signed an agreement on a comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries for a period of 25 years in Tehran on Saturday, Iranian television channel Press TV reported.
The agreement provides for the development of relations between the two countries in 20 different areas, in particular in the spheres of politics, cooperation of executive authorities, in the cultural, legal, defense spheres, in the field of security, as well as on regional and international problems.
According to Wang Yi, relations between China and Iran are permanent and strategic and do not depend on the momentary situation.
Earlier, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Said Khatibzade recalled that for the first time the topic of this agreement was raised during the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Tehran in 2016.
According to him, the agreement takes into account the economic aspects of cooperation between the two countries and Iran’s participation in the “One Belt – One Road” initiative.
