Former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev commented on the extension of the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START), KP.ru writes.
According to him, people always strive for a peaceful life and prosperity.
“Because this is (is) the main desire of people. People want to live peacefully, freely, work and improve their lives,” Gorbachev said.
The former president of the USSR, answering the question whether peace is possible between the Russian Federation and the United States, said that negotiations without barbarism are paramount.
On the extension of START-3, the presidents of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden, agreed during a telephone conversation that took place on January 26.
The Treaty on Measures to Further Reduce and Limit Strategic Offensive Arms was signed by Russia and the United States in 2010. It involves the reduction by both sides of their strategic offensive arms.
