The foreign ministries of Poland, Sweden and Germany have announced the expulsion of three Russian diplomats.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today the employee of the Russian Embassy in Berlin as persona non grata. With this step, the German government is reacting to the decision of the Russian Federation on Friday, February 5, 2021, ”the German Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The Polish Foreign Ministry reported that “in response to the expulsion of a Polish diplomat without a valid reason,” it declares an employee of the Consulate General in Poznan persona non grata.
In turn, the Swedish Foreign Ministry announced a similar decision regarding the embassy employee.
On February 5, the Russian Foreign Ministry declared the employees of the embassies of Sweden, Poland and Germany persona non grata for their participation in illegal actions on 23 January.
The official representative of the department, Maria Zakharova, called this step forced. The Kremlin said that it was the result of the actions of foreign missions against the backdrop of uncoordinated events.
