The German government called the US sanctions on the Nord Stream 2 project an interference with the EU’s sovereignty.
The corresponding assessment of the German Cabinet is contained in the official response to the request of the Union 90 / Greens faction in the Bundestag.
This is reported by TASS with reference to the German Cabinet of Ministers.
“The German government rejects these sanctions (against Nord Stream 2. – RDN) and regards them as interference with European sovereignty,” the response says.
At the same time, the Cabinet of Ministers admitted that Washington’s unilateral measures could affect the special environmental fund created by the regional authorities of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern state, thanks to which, among other things, it is supposed to protect the interests of the participants of the Nord Stream 2 project.
