The Vatican refused to bless the union of same-sex couples. This was announced on Monday, March 15, by the Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith, reports TASS.
The document indicates that in some church circles projects and proposals for the blessing of such couples are being circulated.
“The answer to the question“ Does the church have the authority to bless them ”is negative,” the message says.
The Congregation recalled that, according to the teachings of the Catholic Church, even permanent same-sex unions do not fall under the definition of marriage – existing between a man and a woman and “giving birth to a new life.”
At the same time, the church must “accept and care” about people of non-traditional sexual orientation who want to grow in faith and receive “help in understanding the will of God in their lives.”
“The Church of the Lord will not stop blessing her children, but she cannot bless sin. He can bless the sinner, recognizing him as part of his universe, ”- stated in the explanation of the Congregation.
