The sanctions imposed by China against the European Union will have consequences, said the President of the European Parliament David Sassoli.
“China’s sanctions against MEPs, the Subcommittee on Human Rights and EU bodies are unacceptable and will have consequences,” he wrote on Twitter.
According to him, the EP deputies fell under sanctions “for expressing their opinion in the performance of their democratic duty.”
On March 22, China announced the imposition of sanctions against ten people and four organizations from the European Union for the interference of Brussels in the affairs of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
Beijing also advised the EU to “analyze its mistakes” and stop “playing with double standards”, otherwise China will “answer again.”
