The Swedish newspaper Proletären criticized officials for helping the NATO military move towards the Russian borders.
The article mentions the agreement between Sweden and the North Atlantic Alliance, adopted in 2016. The agreement allows the NATO and US military to use Swedish territory for military operations.
Proletären journalists emphasize that Stockholm’s position has not changed over the past five years.
“It’s a shame that politicians obediently turn Sweden into a target during the alleged war with Russia,” the authors of the article said.
The author of Proletären expressed concern about the desire of the United States to “take Russia into the ring.” Regular exercises with partners and allies of the alliance in Europe are expanding NATO’s positions eastward, each time “getting closer to Russia,” he said. The journalist stressed that the real aggressors are precisely the United States and NATO.
Earlier, Norwegian politicians expressed a similar point of view regarding the deployment of military bases in Europe. They opposed the signing of an additional defense cooperation agreement with the United States by Norwegian Defense Minister Frank Bakke-Jensen, which would involve the transfer of Norwegian Rigge Airport to the US military.
