Russian gas went to Hungary bypassing Ukraine.
Transit through the Ukrainian territory has been terminated since October 1, the Ukrainian GTS Operator reported.
“On October 1, 2021, with the beginning of a new gas day (07:00), the transit of natural gas through Ukraine in the direction of Hungary was stopped,” the operator said in a statement.
It is noted that now Ukraine will also not be able to import natural gas from Hungary through the so-called virtual reverse – since the transit of blue fuel from Russia to the Hungarian side through the Ukrainian territory has been stopped, TASS reports.
Under a new contract signed by Hungary with the Russian Gazprom, the country will receive 4.5 billion cubic meters of Russian gas annually for 15 years. Gas will go to Hungary in two ways: two thirds via the Turkish Stream via Serbia, the rest via Austria.
