Employees of institutions with vulnerable people, such as nursing homes and clinics, must submit proof of vaccination or convalescence by March 15.
In the fight against the coronavirus, the Bundestag passed the first limited law on compulsory vaccination of health care workers and further anti-crisis rules.
On Friday, 571 deputies voted in favor of the coalition bill. Eighty MPs voted against it and 38 abstained. In the afternoon, the Bundesrat (the upper house of parliament) is expected to make a final decision in a special session.
Specifically, by March 15, 2022, employees of institutions that employ people in need of protection, such as nursing homes and clinics, will have to provide proof of vaccination or convalescence.
In addition to doctors, pharmacies, dentists, and veterinarians will also be able to vaccinate for a limited period of time.
