A new strain of coronavirus has been found in the south of France. This information was disseminated on Monday by the electronic version of the Austrian newspaper Heute.
The publication notes that tests revealed an “atypical combination of mutations” in travelers returning to France from Cameroon.
The new strain, designated B.1.640.2, was discovered by medical professionals in Marseille. The study by French scientists says that 46 mutations have been identified in this variant of the coronavirus. So far, there is no data on the level of threat or contagiousness of this strain.
