The Russian President’s special envoy for Syria, Alexander Lavrentyev, said that Russia is ready to supply Syria with the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine after its approval and registration by the Ministry of Health of the republic.
“We spoke with the Red Cross that the Russian side would be ready to supply the vaccine directly to Damascus. But this is primarily a question of registration by the Syrian Ministry of Health: the vaccine must be registered. And then the solution to all these issues is paid, free of charge, ”he said in an interview with TASS.
Earlier, Russia, Turkey and Iran, following the meeting in Sochi, called on the UN and the World Health Organization (WHO) to pay special attention to vaccination of the Syrian population against coronavirus.
In November, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif called for the lifting of sanctions against Syria amid the coronavirus pandemic.
