The accident in the power distribution network at a nuclear facility in the Iranian city of Natanz was the result of a terrorist attack.
Vice President of the country, head of the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization Ali Akbar Salehi stated this on Sunday.
“Iran condemns this heinous act and reminds the international community and the IAEA of the need to combat such manifestations of nuclear terrorism,” Fars quoted him as saying. The politician added that “Iran reserves the right to retaliate against those responsible” in the incident.
According to him, “today’s actions against the [uranium] enrichment center in Natanz demonstrate the defeat of opponents of Iran’s progress in the nuclear sphere and the negotiation process.”
Earlier, AEOI spokesman Behruz Kamalwandi said that an accident in the power distribution network had been recorded at the Natanz facility. According to him, there are no casualties and no environmental pollution.
