A convoy carrying supplies for American troops was blown up on Wednesday South of Baghdad.
This is reported by Al Mayadeen TV channel with reference to its own sources.
According to them, the incident occurred in the area of Nasiriyah-the administrative center of the province of Di – Kar, 350 km South of Baghdad. Two explosive devices went off on the way of a convoy of one of the security companies with equipment for the US army.
Meanwhile, according to Shafaq News, two bombs were detonated near an Iraqi convoy providing logistical support to American forces. No one was injured in the attack. Minor damage was caused to one vehicle, which continued on its way after minor repairs.
This is the second such attack in less than two weeks. On July 11, three trucks carrying equipment for the US Armed forces between the provinces of Muthanna and ed-Diwaniya in southern Iraq were set on fire by unknown assailants.
Previously, a number of Shiite paramilitary groups, including the Pro-Iranian Shiite group Kataib Hezbollah, have repeatedly threatened to strike US troops and interests in Iraq if they do not leave the country in accordance with a resolution adopted in early January by the Parliament of the Republic. In particular, it spelled out a demand for the withdrawal of foreign troops from the country against the background of the murder of the commander of the special forces “al-Quds” of the Islamic revolutionary guard Corps (elite units of the Iranian armed forces) in a us air force strike near the Baghdad airport) Qasem Suleimani and the Deputy head of al-Hashd al-SHAABI, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis.
