The US Global Strike Command has tested the Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile.
ICBM was launched from the Vandenberg military base. The warhead flew over 6 thousand kilometers and fell on the Kwajalein Atoll in the Pacific Ocean, the press service of the command reports.
Earlier, the US military celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Minuteman III rocket in service with the US Army. The ICBM went into combat duty on August 19, 1970.
At the moment, the United States arsenal includes 400 Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missiles with a monoblock warhead.
The maximum flight range is about 11 thousand kilometers, the mass is 36 tons. The power of the nuclear warhead is 300 kilotons.
