The US Sixth Fleet has published footage of a Russian Su-24 bomber passing by the United States Navy destroyer Donald Cook.
“The US Navy regularly operates in the Black Sea in the interests of NATO, allies and partners to ensure security and stability in the region. Today, the destroyer Donald Cook is operating in international waters in the Black Sea, while the Russian Su-24 is making a low pass near it, “the Navy’s Twitter account said in a January 31 message.
The American destroyer “Donald Cook” entered the Black Sea on 23 January. Then the Russian naval sailors tracked the actions of the vessel.
In December 2020, the American magazine The National Interest reported that the military exercises of the US Navy and its NATO allies in the Black Sea were “a warning to Russia.”
In the same month, the Russian Foreign Ministry worried about the buildup of NATO military forces in the Black Sea, noting that the number of calls by NATO navies at the Black Sea ports of allies and partners, and flights of reconnaissance aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles along the Russian borders is increasing.
