The United States announced new sanctions against Russia due to the situation with Alexei Navalny. As stated in the US administration, the measures will be applied to seven “high-ranking officials”, they will consist of export and visa restrictions.
“All of these parties are involved in different aspects of the production of elements of biological and chemical weapons,” the agency quoted him as saying.
As noted in Washington, the sanctions will affect 14 organizations, including RIA Novosti.
So, the list will include 13 commercial companies, nine of which are located in Russia, three – in Germany and one – in Switzerland, said a representative of the administration during a briefing.
Also on March 2, the European Union introduced new sanctions against Russia, they affected Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov, head of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin, head of the Federal Penitentiary Service Alexander Kalashnikov and head of the Russian Guard Viktor Zolotov.
Russian Permanent Representative to the European Union Vladimir Chizhov, commenting on the EU’s decision to extend personal sanctions against Russia, promised that the destructive actions of Brussels would not remain without an appropriate response from Moscow.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Moscow would react to Washington’s announcement of new anti-Russian sanctions.
